The African League of Associations for Rheumatology (AFLAR), is a coalition of rheumatology professional bodies from all 54 African countries and a partner of the International League of Associations of Rheumatology (ILAR). Founded on August 3, 1989, AFLAR held its inaugural meeting the same year. We strive to improve the quality of life for individuals living with rheumatic diseases through education, research, and advocacy.
Join us in our journey to provide cutting-edge care and support to millions across the continent

The African League of Association for Rheumatology represents individuals with arthritis/rheumatism, health professionals in rheumatology (HPR), and scientific rheumatology societies across all African nations. Our members encompass the entire rheumatology spectrum, from early-career professionals to the most senior consultants, academics, and allied health professionals within the multidisciplinary team. Together, we form a strong and unified voice for rheumatology in Africa.
We support our healthcare professionals to ensure they can provide the highest quality care for patients, enhancing the lives of children and adults with rheumatic and musculoskeletal (MSK) diseases.
